Zhi and Casey

We met each other in 2012 as I was exiting the United States Marine Corps after 13 years of service. We started dating and blossomed into marriage. We both always wanted to have kids and have been trying since marriage. However, we had no luck and came to find out I had low sperm count and my wife had hyperplasia with atypia. We reached out to Veteran Affairs (VA) for assistance, but they were only able to partially help with bloodwork and ultrasounds. We had to turn to fertility specialists for help and found out it was a huge financial burden as the VA medical insurance would not cover IVF treatments.

We applied for this grant not knowing if our luck would change, but it did and the grant is now allowing us to proceed with an IVF cycle. We hope our dream will come true and we will finally be able to be parents!

We are beyond grateful for this opportunity and thank you very much, Chicago Coalition for Family Building!!

Zhi and Casey are recipients of a donated IVF cycle from InVia Fertility.

When we found out that the next step was IVF, we thought our dreams were shattered
