Family Stories
Priyanka and Rupendra
I met Ru when he came to visit his family in Nepal, after the earthquake, which affected most of Kathmandu. Later, we were married in a family ceremony in Nepal and I moved to Lisle, Illinois to join him. Both of us have always dreamt of having children together. However, it has been very challenging trying to become pregnant. We have taken all the required fertility tests to find the reason. The fertility specialist says it’s a case of unexplained infertility. We have been trying to conceive for about three years now. Last July I was about five weeks pregnant and then suddenly had cramps and had a miscarriage. It was truly heartbreaking. Since then, we have been seeking help from fertility specialists in hopes to conceive a baby.
We are beyond grateful and joyous to receive a grant from the Chicago Coalition for Family Building!
Priyanka and Rupendra are recipients of a donated IVF cycle through our Partner Practice, Reproductive Medicine Institution (RMI).
