Jamie and Richard

We have been struggling to get pregnant for several years. After going through three years of unsuccessful intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedures, it was clear we needed to go down a different path if we wanted to become pregnant.

It took some time to mourn the idea that we were not going to be able to get pregnant the way we initially presumed and the only way we could potentially have another child would be to use an egg donor.

This was a hard realization for us emotionally, but also financially. We were still trying to recover from paying for all of the medication and rounds of IUI.

We had almost written off the idea of having another child... until we stumbled upon the Chicago Coalition for Family Building.

Jamie and Richard are recipients of the Path to Parenthood Grant, made possible by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago.

When we found out that the next step was IVF, we thought our dreams were shattered
