Chrissy and Alex: Normalizing Infertility

Image

Chrissy and Alex met in 2008 at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, and quickly formed a strong connection. After graduation, they pursued teaching careers in different states — Alex in Maryland and Chrissy in North Carolina. Despite the distance, they grew closer, bonding over their shared love for education and dreams of starting a family. In 2014, they moved to Chicago to continue building their lives together.

After a decade of dating, they married in 2019, excited to begin the next chapter. Unfortunately, their path to parenthood has been challenging. After years of trying to conceive, they turned to fertility treatments, including Clomid and IUI, which were unsuccessful. As they prepare for IVF, Chrissy and Alex are committed to sharing their journey to help normalize conversations about infertility and support others facing similar struggles.

Professionally, Chrissy dedicates her time to a national educational non-profit, developing programs that promote inclusive and equitable learning environments. Alex now works as a Supervisor for the TSA. In their free time, they love staying active and enjoying the outdoors. Alex is passionate about kayaking and soccer, having coached school teams in the past. Chrissy is a triathlon and cycling enthusiast, having completed several Ironman 70.3 races. Chrissy and Alex remain hopeful about the future and are dedicated to building a family while helping others feel less alone on their own fertility journeys.

Chrissy and Alex are recipients of a donated cycle from our Partner Practice, the Reproductive Medicine Institute, Chicago.
