Our journey began in 2017 when I unexpectedly became pregnant. We were ecstatic at the thought of us becoming parents. Everything seemed to be going well but, a little over two months after finding out I was pregnant my doctor realized that my HCG levels were higher that expected and decided to send me to do some testing. I was diagnosed with having had a molar pregnancy. The following week I scheduled a D&C procedure and the doctor advised that waiting a year to become pregnant again was our best option. After a little over a year we decided to try again, and to our surprise I became pregnant right away. I went to the doctors but, it turned out I had another partial molar pregnancy and I scheduled another D&C with in the following days. We had to wait another year to try again. Once again I became pregnant but, after nine weeks pregnant my pregnancy stop developing. I had to schedule yet another a D&C procedure.

Not knowing what to do, and asking myself… why me? My doctor referred me to a fertility center. I went and did some testing and came close to being ready to do an IVF cycle. Unfortunately, I discovered that my insurance doesn’t cover fertility treatment so, we had no choice but to pay for treatment out of pocket. Not having the financial funds available, my doctor recommended applying for the grant in hope of us getting one. Words cannot express our contentment to being recipients of this grant. It’s truly a blessing and we are beyond grateful.

Cecilia and Manuel are recipients of a donated IVF cycle from Vios Fertility Institute.

When we found out that the next step was IVF, we thought our dreams were shattered
