Siobhan and Edgar

We met online in 2013 when we were in our thirties and knew that we had something special. Our wedding in 2015 was a joyous occasion of family and friends because family is very important to us. We waited two years to begin to try for our own family. Unfortunately, due to Siobhan’s diagnosis of PCOS, it wasn’t as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Fortunately, it was fate that Siobhan met Dr. Shweta Nayak of Reproductive Medicine Institute during National Infertility Awareness Week. Before meeting Dr. Nayak, as a couple, we had come to the conclusion that starting a family the old-fashioned way might not be an option for us and that we needed to turn to a reproductive endocrinologist. Additionally, we also knew the cost of IVF was probably out of the question as well with Edgar working part-time while being a full-time student and Siobhan working full-time in the non-profit sector. However, Dr. Nayak shared with us about the Chicago Coalition for Family Building and we couldn’t be more grateful as we are 2019 recipients! Thank you!

With the help of the IVF grant, we will begin our IVF journey towards our ultimate desire of being parents. We are in awe of the Coalition and cannot thank you enough for the hope you have given us.
