Since 2020, Holly and Nicholas have been an international couple—Holly from the USA and Nicholas from the USA. Their plans to live together were interrupted by Holly’s breast cancer diagnosis in early 2023 at age 32. Although they initially planned to settle in the UK, once Holly became ill, it became clear that undergoing treatment and planning to grow their family after cancer would be better in Illinois, where her family and care team are based. In January 2026, they were married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family. As recipients of a grant through the Magnolia Tree Foundation in collaboration with the Chicago Coalition for Family Building, they are hoping to build the family they have always dreamed of.
