Rachel and Chris: From an Eight-Hour First Date to Forever

Rachel & Chris met online during the fall of 2020 during the pandemic. After the classically 2020 screening question of ‘would you get a vaccine if one existed?’, they had an eight-hour first date and realized this was something special.
They quickly integrated their lives together, sharing a love of travel, food and family. They both come from big families with 4+ siblings and on their first date discussed how excited they were to become parents one day. Rachel was raised in a Jewish household; Chris has fully embraced Jewish culture and traditions, attending his first bat mitzvah, learning to love nova but hate gefilte fish and integrating into her long-held traditions of hosting Passover annually and making matzoh ball soup anytime someone in her life is sick. This September, on their four year anniversary, they celebrated their wedding in the Willamette Valley surrounded by friends, family, and the local winery dog. They live in Bucktown with their 3 year old dog Lumpy.
Rachel and Chris are recipients of the Path to Parenthood Grant from the Jewish United Fund – Chicago.
