Prachi and Dev’s story began in 2020, a year filled with promise and the excitement of new beginnings. From the outset, Dev and Prachi were united by a deep bond, forged through shared values and dreams. As they navigated life together, they encountered numerous challenges, each one strengthening their relationship and deepening their commitment to one another. However, none of these challenges tested them as profoundly as their journey with infertility.

Prachi, a first-generation U.S. Army veteran, has faced many obstacles with courage and resilience. Her time in the military taught her the importance of perseverance, discipline, and hope, even in the face of adversity. Yet, the road to parenthood has been a unique and deeply personal challenge — one that has required immense emotional fortitude and patience from both of them.

Their journey became even more complex after Prachi underwent a unilateral oophorectomy at a young age. They knew this procedure would make starting a family more difficult, but they were determined to overcome whatever hurdles lay ahead. Over the past year, they have embarked on a challenging path filled with numerous treatments and procedures. Each step has been accompanied by the hope of success, but also the pain of setbacks, as they have faced the emotional toll that each cycle brings.

In addition to the emotional and physical challenges, the financial burden has been overwhelming. Infertility treatments are not just taxing on the body and spirit — they also come with significant costs that add another layer of stress to an already difficult process. They have had to carefully navigate these financial pressures while holding onto the belief that their dream of becoming parents is worth every sacrifice.

The Chicago Coalition for Family Building Grant has been a beacon of hope in their journey. This grant is much more than financial support — it represents a lifeline that has given them the opportunity to pursue IVF, bringing them one step closer to the family they have always envisioned. The hope and encouragement that this grant has provided are immeasurable, renewing their strength and determination with each passing day.

As they continue on this path, Dev and Prachi remain deeply thankful for the support they have received. They are mindful of the countless others who are also navigating the difficult road of infertility, and they hope that by sharing their story, they can offer some comfort and encouragement. They want others to know that they are not alone and that with compassion, perseverance, and support, even the most challenging dreams can be achieved.

Their journey is ongoing, and they are committed to sharing positive news while hoping their prayers are answered soon. They are honored to be part of a community that understands the unique struggles of infertility and are dedicated to supporting others as they pursue their own dreams of family. By sharing their story, they hope to inspire others to keep moving forward, even when the path is difficult, and to never lose sight of the hope that guides them all.
